A woman was allegedly “beaten to death” in a gruesome attack at her home, police said.
Staffordshire Police were called to an address on Thursday in Meir, Stoke-on-Trent, and later arrested a 38-year-old man on suspicion of assault and battery.
Police officers found a woman in her 40s inside the house who was rushed to hospital where she later died.
Images from the time show two police cars, an ambulance and a paramedics car parked outside the address.
One resident told StokeonTrentLive: ‘We saw a lot of police cars come in, as well as ambulances and the air ambulance. A police car has been left outside the property. It has been very worrying.
