Woman ‘gets raped by careless stranger’ in south London park: Police launch urgent investigation after ‘horrifying experience’

Police have launched an investigation after a woman said she was raped by a ‘scruffy’ stranger in a park in south London.
The woman said the “terrible experience” took place at Warren Avenue Playing Fields, Bromley, on Friday night.
The man reportedly approached the woman and made sexual comments suggesting that she should meet him before he assaulted her and fled on foot.
The suspect was described as a black male with short hair, 35 to 40 years of age, around 5 feet 10 inches tall, and with a slim build.
Police and ambulance personnel were called to the scene at around 8:15 p.m. that night following the report of the attack. Later, the agents cordoned off the area.

Police have confirmed that the woman is now being cared for by specialist officers at the Haven rape crisis centre.
“The suspect approached the female, who did not recognize him, but made comments suggesting that she should know him,” said DCI Stuart Hart of the Met’s South Area BCU.
She was sexually assaulted and raped before the man left on foot.
‘The victim suffered an ordeal and our full support will be given. Addressing violence against women and girls is an absolute top priority for the Met, and I can assure you that dedicated officers are doing everything possible to identify the man responsible for this attack.
The suspect is described as a black male with short hair, possibly 35-40 years of age, around 5 feet 10 inches tall, and with a slim build. He had what was described as “a scruffy, dry, unkempt black beard, patchy on one side”. He was wearing a dark colored long-sleeved shirt.
