UFC welterweight Belal Muhammad shared a text message on social media that suggested Colby Covington turned down a fight with him at UFC 286.
The fighting promotion returns to London this Saturday night for the welterweight title fight between Leon Edwards and Kamaru Usman.
And, during the weigh-ins for the bouts, American wrestler Colby Covington made a stunning appearance as a backup for the card’s main event.
It appears to suggest Covington will be next to win the belt, after a winner is decided at the O2 arena, however Muhammad believes he is entitled to a fight with the 35-year-old.
On Friday afternoon, shortly after Covington took the stage in London, Muhammad shared the text with the caption: “Turn down a fight on the same card so I can have a say and not have to fight.”

The UFC fighter shared a text message that showed that a fight with Covington was in the works.
The text message, addressed to her nutritionist and chef Ian Larios, read: ‘I might b on the London card’ with a set of emojis afterward.
Larios replied: ‘What. Oh shit. Against whom’. ‘Colby,’ Muhammad replied.
After another response from Larios, Muhammad said: “I’m just waiting for confirmation, if I can go to Chicago in 4 weeks.”
The text messages were dated January 25, suggesting the fight had been in the works for a few months.
Muhammad shared the text messages after seeing Covington arrive for the weigh-in in London on Friday afternoon.
‘Chaos’ won’t actually lace up his gloves on Saturday, after both Leon Edwards and Kamaru Usman made weight for the main event.
However, he will be present in the crowd, perhaps preparing to call the winner, although he doesn’t have a particularly strong case.
The main event of UFC 286 promises to be an exciting matchup as Edwards looks to defend his welterweight belt for the first time.
He claimed gold in August of last year after handing Usman his first UFC loss with a brutal kick to the head in the fifth and final round of their fight.
