Insiders told the publication that the Mission: Impossible actor had heard positive reviews of The Flash during a meeting with Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav last month in February.
His interest piqued, Cruise asked if it would be possible to preview the film, and soon after, a courier was sent to his Beverly Hills home with a copy.

The actor’s positive response to the film comes shortly after his film, Top Gun: Maverick, which was a sequel to the 1986 film Top Gun, received six Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture.
Cruise did not appear at the Oscars which were held early Sunday due to filming commitments for Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning Part II in the UK, according to Entertainment tonight.
However, when stopping Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Wednesday, David Letterman told the host that Tom “should have been there, celebrating his maverick jet-pack extravaganza.”
When asked where the actor was, Jimmy replied: “We don’t know where Tom Cruise was,” adding that the star had explained that he couldn’t make it to the annual awards show due to “production issues.”
Kimmel, who hosted the ceremony for the third time, said: “It seems like it should have been there, but it wasn’t there, and like you [David] they were saying, maybe he didn’t feel like he was going to win, so he didn’t come,” and later called Cruise the “Prince of Hollywood.”
Despite his absence, Top Gun: Maverick ended up winning an Academy Award for Best Sound among six nominations.

The Flash will be released in theaters on June 19 and features a star-studded cast, including Michael Keaton, who will reprise the role of Batman after playing the character in 1989 and 1992.
Ezra Miller, who has recently faced criminal charges including robbery, assault and grooming, takes on the lead role of The Flash (aka Barry Allen) in the film.
Amid other issues, including production delays, new DC directors James Gunn and Peter Safran expressed high hopes for the feature in early January of this year. Earlier that month, Miller, who uses they/them pronouns, pleaded guilty to trespassing in Vermont.
During an interview with the hollywood reporter, Gunn said that the film is “probably one of the best superhero movies ever made.”
Safran stated that Ezra, ‘is completely committed to his recovery. We fully support the journey they are on right now.”
On the subject of whether Miller has the future of reprising the role again, he added: “When the time is right, when they’re ready to have that discussion, we’ll all figure out the best way forward.”
“But right now, they are completely focused on their recovery. And in our conversation with them, over the last couple of months, it feels like they’re making tremendous progress.’
In a cover story for the outlet, which dropped early Thursday, Ben Affleck also teased his role as Batman in The Flash. He also played the superhero in the 2017 movie Justice League, as well as Batman vs. Superman: Dawn Of Justice from 2016.
“Yeah, I finally figured out how to play that character, and I did on The Flash,” the Gone Girl actor admitted to The Hollywood Reporter.

When talking about how he approached Batman in The Flash, Affleck explained, “You have to figure out what your version of the person is.” Who’s the guy that fits what you can do? I tried to fit into a Batman.
With DC’s directors and Cruise’s rather positive reviews already on hand, fans will be the next to spew their own responses when watching The Flash, which had a whopping $200 million budget.
The premise follows Barry Allen/The Flash as he “uses his super speed to change the past, but his attempt to save his family creates a world without superheroes, forcing him to run for his life to save the future,” according to to one Synopsis from IMDB.
