A Texas town has lost its Guinness World Record bid for bringing together the largest group of people with the same first name after hundreds of Kyles flocked to the Lone Star State for the count.
The current record was set when 2,325 Ivans gathered in 2017 in the Bosnian town of Kupreski Kosci.
The city of Kyle lost the world record at the Gathering of the Kyles on Sunday.
After a count and recount of all registrants, the city said 1,490 Kyles attended.
“We are so grateful to the hundreds of Kyles who attended the Kyle Fair A Tex-Travaganza to participate in this world record attempt,” a spokesman for the city said.

“Kyles from all over the country answered the call, with Kyles from 49 of the 50 states, including Hawaii and Alaska, attending the Gathering of the Kyles — the majority of which came from all over Texas.”
The event had global coverage, with participants from Ontario, Calgary, Vancouver, British Columbia and Saskatchewan, Canada.
“We thank the many Kyles who came to this event and who were overwhelmed by their enthusiasm and camaraderie in Kyle’s fourth and most successful attempt at the city of this record,” the spokesperson said.
The City of Kyle plans to attempt to break the record for the largest eponymous gathering next year at the second Kyle Fair A Tex-Travaganza.
When releasing “The Call of the Kyles” on the city’s Facebook page earlier this month, a spokesperson wrote, “For a chance to break this record, we need Kyles from far and wide to participate.
“We need tall Kyles, short Kyles, young Kyles, and old Kyles.”

However, there are strict rules for who is eligible to be Kyle in the record attempt.
The organizers wrote: ‘We cannot accept middle names or surnames. All participants must be named “Kyle” – spelled that way.
“Various iterations of “Kyle,” such as Kyler, Kiel, or Kylee, will not be accepted.
“Kyles of all ages can participate.”
The gathering took place at the end of the town’s annual Kyle Fair, which lasts three days and includes live music, rides and a rib-cooking competition.
“All Kyles participating in the Gathering of the Kyles will receive a free t-shirt, some other goodies, and will be serenaded by one of them, Kyle Daniel,” a spokesperson for the event wrote.
“Admission to the Kyle Fair is free, as is attendance at all live music performances.”
