Shania Twain tells how she was sexually abused by her stepfather

Shania Twain wore pink hair when she appeared on the Today show Thursday in New York City.

The 57-year-old You’re Still The One singer was plugging in her upcoming album Queen Of Me.

On the show, Shania talked to Hoda Kotb about how she was caressed by her stepfather as a child, which made her feel ashamed of her body. Now she’s trying to embrace her curves, which is why she posed nude for the album cover. “I’m in charge of me,” she said.

When asked what her album title meant to her, the That Don’t Impress Me Much singer said, “It means taking responsibility, owning yourself.”

During the sit-down, she also mentioned that she went nude for her album cover as a way of coping with the horrible things her father did to her when she was a child.

“It’s really about saying I was abused as a child,” she said. “My dad stroked me on top and let me go shirtless and I was already an adult. This creepy hideous wants to escape to get in my skin.”

She continued, “It’s time to love myself in my own skin and really embrace that and not be ashamed or embarrassed about it.” This is who I am.’

Twain also said, “Love who you are.” I am my own royalty. I am in charge of myself and I am responsible for the decisions I make, for what I say, for what I do. It’s a statement of self-confidence that I’ve grown more into in recent years.’

The five-time Grammy winner then continued to ponder the idea of ​​finding confidence at this stage in her life and how “it’s more essential than ever.”

For her new album, she did a photo shoot in which she decided to go ‘full monty’.

“I did a whole shoot as part of the album artwork where I’m completely naked and it was really scary, but it was kind of like, you know, I don’t really like my body.

“I don’t like looking at myself in the mirror with the lights on or looking at my body in the mirror. So I said, listen, I’m going to face that fear.”

Shania explained that she wanted to “put fashion aside” so she could be fully her authentic self.

The conversation then shifted to discussing Shania growing up in an abusive family in her documentary Not Just a Girl, due out July 2022.

The man! I feel like a woman! singer grew up in a house where there was not always food or electricity. She lost her parents in her twenties and she then had to become the mother figure to her siblings.

The beauty shared how those hardships shaped her into who she is today, describing it as “like a double-edged sword.”

She said, “There are elements in that, going through all these difficulties that make you stronger. What you survive makes you stronger, but on the other hand you develop insecurities.’

Shania shared how as a songwriter she writes about and envisions the future and how she rarely reflects on the past in her songs.

She looked fabulous in NYC on her way to the show.

Over her clothes she wore a long leather jacket that reached to her knees. She was also wearing a pair of high boots with leather heels.
