Saturday Kitchen host Matt Tebbutt got more than he bargained for after confidently stating that he could handle a dosa that was “10 out of 10” on the heat scale.
The 49-year-old presenter gasped and covered his mouth in shock after taking a bite of the thin pancake made by mother and daughter trio Mumbai Mix.
In the entertainment segment, Matt was asked how hot he wanted his dosa filled with curry, with the host telling them he could handle the ’10 on 10′ heat.
While his co-stars ate ready-made dosas at the table, one of them warned, “If this is five out of ten, I’m interested if you can handle 10 out of ten.”

While Mumbai Mix said they thought he’d be fine with the heat, Matt ate a healthy bite – only for the chilli to hit his lips.
He told them, “This is a lot hotter than the one I tried yesterday.”
Struggling, the host waved his hands and his eyes watered as he urged them to keep talking before telling them, “I’ll put more in as soon as I can handle it.”
Home viewers said the scenes were “priceless.”
One of them wrote: ‘this is one of the funniest cooking shows I’ve seen in ages. It was funny watching @matt_tebbutt struggle with the chili (sorry Matt). Great TV, thanks.’
Another added: “Priceless. I can feel the love and the chili. I feel fine. Unlike Matt’.
A third viewer asked, “Was that a bit spicy?”, while a fourth fan teased, “You haven’t eaten much of your level 10 Dosas!!”
“Nice to see Matt brave enough to go for an A, or maybe that was more of a choice by the rest of the team, who wanted to see him suffer?” another wrote.
Elsewhere in the show, Fleur East made a pithy remark while helping to make a clam dish.
