- He was convicted of dangerous driving, driving under the influence of drugs and driving without insurance
This is when a fugitive driver, who was sentenced to 16 months in prison, was driving on the wrong side of an emergency lane on the highway at speeds in excess of 135 km/h.
The motorist has been named as Kieran Philibin, 36, who, according to police, exhibited a ‘terrible bit of driving’ on the M65 in Lancashire.
At around 8:30 p.m. on July 31, officers were looking for Philibin’s blue Ford Fiesta, which was believed to have false license plates.
The Fiesta was spotted by officers and Philibin did not stop.
A chase ensued in which the driver jumped a red light and went the wrong way around a roundabout and then the wrong way down the dual carriageway section of Princess Way towards Junction 11 of the M65.
The Fiesta (circled) was spotted by officers and Philibin did not stop. He then drove in the wrong direction on the highway at high speed

Kieran Philibin, 36, was charged and convicted of dangerous driving, failure to stop, driving without insurance and driving under the influence of drugs
After driving more recklessly, Philibin turned onto the M65 at Junction 11 and headed the wrong way onto the slip road towards oncoming traffic at a speed of 2.4 miles.
After coming to a stop, Philibin and a passenger fled.
The passenger was held a short distance from the car and Philibin was arrested while hiding nearby.
Philibin, of Samuel Street, Stockport, was charged and convicted of dangerous driving, failing to stop, driving without insurance and driving under the influence of drugs.
He appeared at Burnley Crown Court and was sentenced to 16 months’ imprisonment and disqualified from driving for 5 years and 8 months. He must take an extensive re-test.
PC Anthony Beckett, of Lancashire Police’s Tactical Operations, said: ‘This was a horrific piece of driving committed by a man who was actively trying to evade arrest.
“As the footage shows, there were many motorists on the M65 that day who would have been shocked and terrified by Philibin’s reckless and selfish actions, which could easily have resulted in someone being seriously injured or killed.
“This behavior will not be tolerated on the roads of Lancashire and we will do everything we can to bring the perpetrators to justice.”
