Australian actor Peter Hardy, who appeared in Neighbours, has been revealed as the man who tragically drowned on the Fremantle beach.

Australian actor Peter Hardy has been revealed as the victim who tragically drowned on a Fremantle beach last week at the age of 66.

The actor played Jimmy Drane in three episodes of the iconic Australian soap opera Neighbors in 1997, but is best known for his roles in McLeod’s Daughters, the crime drama Chopper.

According western australiaHardy had traveled to Perth from London to visit his mother after settling in the UK.

His brother Michael shared the tragic news on social media on Friday: “I am devastated to say that my brother, Peter Hardy, passed away suddenly this morning… Rest in peace my loving little brother.”

Tributes have started pouring in following the tragic news of Hardy’s death.

‘This news is such a heartbreaking shock. He will be held in the wide arms of the ocean he grew up beside, and in the hearts of all those he welcomed into his vital and artful orbit. Sincere condolences to his family, friends and colleagues,” Ross Anderson wrote.

His friend Andy Burns said: “On the morning of March 16th a dear friend was taken from us… the amazingly beautiful Peter Hardy drowned while snorkelling off South Beach Perth.”

“He was 66 and looking like a Greek god, so fit and so happy to be back in his native WA visiting from London where he had made his home.”

“Words cannot express how deeply I feel this loss. We have been close friends since we lived together in Neutral Bay Sydney in the mid-1980s.”

“He was a superb actor, a wonderful singer and guitarist, he also played drums and sax. He always liked acting in the theater, as well as in movies and on television. He decided to buy a boat on the London canals which he beautifully set up with some recording equipment and would send me recorded guitar tracks there to add accompaniments to.

“Sincere condolences to all his family and many friends on this devastating loss, especially to his beautiful girlfriend Lysa, our thoughts are with you…”

Richard became a season regular on McLeod’s Daughters as Phil Rakich, a laborer on a South Australian farm, before his final episode in 2009.
