In the episode, Kaitlin revealed that she met Aaron in elementary school.

The couple finally started dating when she was 18 and quickly began abusing prescription drugs.

The couple stopped temporarily when she became pregnant with their son Camden but, when he was just six months old, they went back to their old ways and began using harder substances.

Their relationship was plagued with arguments as he admitted that the duo were doing “everything possible” to get high, including stealing.

Eager to change her lifestyle, Kaitlin checked into rehab in 2016, but, just a week before she was due to get out, Aaron overdosed and passed away.

After his death, Kaitlin found solace in speaking with Aaron’s brother, Rory, who admitted that he had not trusted her when the couple first met.

Rory would visit Kaitlin and her two-year-old nephew on the weekends, and that’s how their relationship began to blossom.

Rory said: ‘First, we were both hesitant to let our relationship be known to our families. We didn’t want them to think we didn’t care about Aaron.

Speaking about her own reactions, Aaron and Rory’s mother Jess (center) admitted she initially thought it was “a little weird.”

Discussing her own reactions, Aaron and Rory’s mom Jess admitted she initially thought it was “a bit weird.”

She revealed: ‘My first thought was, ‘How would Aaron feel?’ and I knew he wouldn’t like it at all. He would not be happy.

‘But once I looked at it the way [Rory] I was looking at him… you can’t help who you have feelings for.’

She concluded: “It’s not my determination who my children are with.”

Kaitlin and Rory, who also has a son from a previous relationship, have been together for seven years.

The couple have welcomed two daughters of their own and Camden has now started calling Rory ‘dad’ instead of ‘uncle’.

They said that if Aaron knew about their relationship now, he would be “very comforted.”
