A 39-year-old man has been charged with murder after a 29-year-old man was stabbed to death after a fight at a nightclub.
Edward Wilson was detained and charged with murder in connection with the fatal stabbing of Akeem Francis-Kerr Saturday morning at Valesha nightclub.
West Midlands Police were called to Valesha’s nightclub, also known as Colliseum, on Newport Street in the city center just after 5am after reports that a man known as ‘Keemz’ had been stabbed.
He was pronounced dead around 6 a.m. while on his way to the hospital.
West Midlands Police said: ‘We have kept Akeem’s family updated on the latest developments as we continue to support them through this difficult time.

“We know there are concerns about recent knife crime in the city and we have worked hard with our partners to reduce the risk of violence.”
Wilson, from Oldbury, has now been charged with murder and is due to appear at Birmingham Magistrates Court today, March 18.
After the 29-year-old’s death, friends flooded social media with tributes, writing about his “humble nature and infectious smile” and that he was “known by many and loved by all”.
“That infectious smile is gone forever, always so polite and humble and respectful towards me,” one wrote.
Another added, “It breaks me to hear what happened to Keemz. Rest in paradise young king. I send love and strength to his family and friends.
‘Today is a sad day!! He is known by many and loved by all.”
And another said, ‘This one here broke my heart, Keemz, my little darling from Wolverhampton.
‘I really can’t believe it. I don’t understand how we were literally out and about together a few months ago… May you rest in paradise dear.’
