LaVar Ball claims Bronny James should SKIP college basketball and go straight to playing professionally in Australia if he’s ‘really that guy’
Famous NBA dad LaVar Ball has stated that he thinks Bronny James would be better served if he went to play professionally in Australia for a year rather than play in college.
Ball’s youngest son, Charlotte Hornets All-Star LaMelo played overseas in Australia and has been the best of the three Ball siblings to play in the NFL.
The older of the Ball brothers, Lonzo, and the middle brother, LiAngelo, attended UCLA, but neither man’s NBA career has gone according to plan. Currently, Lonzo is set to try to become the first player in NBA history to attempt a comeback after undergoing a knee cartilage transplant, while LiAngelo has struggled to maintain even a G-League career.
‘Is better [in Australia]. Because? Because you play against grown men and you get paid,” LaVar told The Sporting News.
‘If you want to play basketball and you really are that guy, why am I sitting in class trying to pass a chemistry test? I don’t want to play without chemistry. I don’t want to practice any Spanish.
Lavar Ball has stated that he thinks Bronny James would be better off playing basketball next season abroad in Australia rather than playing college basketball.

‘You’re going to have all these players in college trying to get out, [when] you can set up your own stage across the water,’ Ball said.
‘You’re going to have haters and supporters, that’s what makes gyms crowded. A lot of people want to see LeBron’s son do well and a lot of people want to say ‘he can’t play against grown men.’
James recently received accolades for his performance in the McDonald’s All-American game and received high praise as well as comparisons to his father, LeBron James.
As his senior year of high school comes to a close, time is also running out to decide where he will play basketball next, as college, abroad and the G League remain viable options.
According to The Oregonian, James has narrowed his college options down to the “top five or six,” which includes the Buckeyes, plus Oregon and USC.
He was seen visiting Ohio State during the season-opening football game against Notre Dame, before posting photos of himself in an Ohio State uniform soon after.
While he still has two years to go before he can make his NBA debut, there’s a good chance Bronny could suit up as his dad to a league game, as LeBron has spoken multiple times about wanting to team with his son. .
