Kanye West could potentially be banned from entering Australia over anti-Semitic comments he made.

The rapper, known as Ye, is reportedly planning a visit to Melbourne in the coming days to meet the family of his reportedly new wife, designer Bianca Censori.

Ye was widely criticized last year for praising Adolf Hitler during an interview with American far-right conspiracy theorist Alex Jones.

Education Minister Jason Clare suggested his earlier comments could prevent Ye from getting an Australian visa.

While Mr Clare didn’t know if the rapper had applied for a visa, he said a quick Google search revealed he ‘appears to be a pretty big fan of someone who killed six million Jewish people last century’.

“Such people who have applied for visas to enter Australia in the past have been rejected,” he told Nine’s Today on Wednesday.

“I expect that if he signs up, he’ll have to go through the same process and answer the same questions as them.”

On Tuesday, opposition leader Peter Dutton said his inclination would be to not allow the rapper to enter Australia.

“His anti-Semitic remarks are disgraceful, his behavior and conduct is appalling, and he is not a person of good character,” Dutton told 3AW.

Mr Dutton said the immigration minister had the power to prevent people of bad character from entering Australia.

“My instinct would be if I were that decision maker, I think there are better people out there that we could welcome,” he said.
