Jeremy Clarkson looks sharp in a three-piece suit at Cheltenham Festival for the Gold Cup as he takes a break from the drama over the parking lot at Diddly Squat’s farm

The TV star has insisted that a ‘compromise will be reached’ over plans for an expanded car park at his Diddly Squat farm, which has pitted locals against each other.

And on Friday, Jeremy Clarkson, 62, took a break from the drama and looked sharp in a three-piece suit as he arrived at the Cheltenham Festival for the Gold Cup.

The television personality opted for an elegant blue ensemble, which he combined with a crisp white shirt and dark boots.

With sunglasses over his eyes, he sauntered down the racetrack, clinging to a newspaper, waving a gold umbrella beside him.

And while Jeremy was enjoying a day at the races, visitors to the Diddly Squat farm chewed up grass verges with their 4x4s as the queue over a new parking lot grew fiercer among locals.

Dozens of vehicles again crashed into the popular Oxfordshire site on Friday morning, with long queues outside the Amazon presenter’s farm shop.

But as its popularity continues to soar, the farm’s lack of suitable facilities to handle such an influx of customers was once again exposed.

A number of cars were parked on boggy hills on the side of a road outside Diddly Squat, which have deteriorated in recent days as more and more people flock to them.

Jeremy remains embroiled in a battle over the plans with West Oxfordshire District Council, which refused to give him permission to extend the store’s car park in May last year.

A two-day planning inspection meeting was held this week to consider proposals from the former Top Gear presenter to accommodate an additional 70 vehicles.

The WODC opposes the plans on the grounds that it would encourage more visitors to Diddly Squat farm – which is located between Chadlington and Chipping Norton – adding to traffic problems.

The council has also said allowing more vehicles would further disrupt the tranquility of the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Jeremy said on Twitter that the recent furore “makes it sound like a civil war is raging” but insisted “a compromise will be reached”.

Villagers who support the Diddly Squat farm have described it as the ‘crown jewel’ of sustainable living, as they pleaded with their council to allow the expansion plans.

It comes as camera crews were spotted in Chipping Norton on Thursday to resume shooting his hit series Clarkson’s Farm.

It also emerged that the broadcaster has invested in a new beer trailer to serve its flagship Hawkstone lager.

Farmhand Kaleb Cooper shared a photo of the new “mobile bar” on Instagram – featuring a picture of a gray trailer with pink paint across the roof.

While it’s not clear what permissions Jeremy will need to set up the bar on his land, building permits generally do not need to be applied for for temporary structures used less than 28 days a year.

He already sells alcohol in his store, so he may not need an additional alcohol license.

Jeremy’s tussle has prompted some councilors to call on officials to go easy on the star, with Liam Walker – a Conservative member of Oxfordshire County Council – suggesting he was being treated differently from other developers.

‘Jeremy is Marmite and he knows it. Of course the council will say all planning applications will be taken at face value, but I wonder if some of my council colleagues came to it with a predetermined position,” he told MailOnline.

The TV star is also challenging his decision to close his restaurant on the same plot of land, alleging that he opened it last July without planning permission.
