Just because he isn’t starting every week doesn’t mean that New Orleans Saints quarterback Jameis Winston isn’t proving that he’s part of the team.
Video posted to ESPN’s TikTok account shows the former Florida State quarterback shaking the hands of teammates and staff members before the game started.
Winston – who has only played in a combined 14 games over the past three seasons – was praised online for his mentality and his dedication to his team.
Former Buccaneers defensive lineman Gerald McCoy confirmed that Winston’s had this habit for a long time, even getting impatient with players who would delay their walk to the dressing room.
‘He used to get upset at me for taking so long to get in [the] locker room but he always waited. Great teammate,’ McCoy explained.

After getting injured in the 2021 season, Winston has not returned as a consistent starter
Winston has recently been linked as a possible trade asset for the New York Jets after Aaron Rodgers’ season ended with a torn Achilles tendon in Week 1.
After five seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Winston made the move to New Orleans and has struggled to stay as a starting quarterback.
Following one year as a backup to Drew Brees, Winston started seven games before tearing his ACL and ending his 2021 season.
In 2022, Winston was passed over as the starting quarterback for Andy Dalton. This year, he was once again left on the bench in favor of Derek Carr.
To date, Winston has racked up over 21,000 passing yards, 139 passing touchdowns, and 96 interceptions. He also has 1,220 rushing yards and eleven rushing touchdowns.
Last night, the Saints were able to beat the Carolina Panthers by a scoreline of 20-17.
