Horror as man, 40, dies after being hit by London bus in ‘hit and run’ before driver, 59, is arrested

A 40-year-old man has died after being hit by a London bus in an alleged ‘hit and run’ when the driver was arrested.
The incident happened just before 7:20 p.m. Saturday in Hounslow, west of the city.
Police were called at 9.20pm by staff at a west London hospital after a man was admitted with serious injuries.
“Despite their best efforts, the man died shortly after arrival,” the Met Police said in a statement.
The 59-year-old bus driver was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and failing to stop on the spot.

He was taken into custody and has since been released on bail.
The police say they know the identity of the deceased man and have informed his next of kin.
They are supported by specially trained officers and an autopsy will be performed in due course.
Officers investigating the incident are looking for witnesses.
Police said: “Agents from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit want to hear from anyone who may have driven in the area and captured dashcam footage, or those who may have witnessed the incident.”
