Harry Hamlin revealed his secret to maintaining a healthy marriage with his wife, Lisa Rinna, after they celebrated 25 years of marriage last year.
The actor, 71, recently opened up about what he’s learned from his long-term relationship with the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills reality star, 59, and from previous marriages.
Last August, the couple – who tied the knot in 1997 – toasted their silver anniversary with a throwback photo from the day they got married.

The Clash of the Titans actor proposed to the Days of Our Lives actress that year – about five years after they met in 1992.
In an exclusive interview with Peoplesaid the LA Law alum, “Happy wife, happy life is really my mantra.”
He added, “And it works.”
The marriage blessed him with two daughters: Delilah, 24, and Amelia, 21.
“We listen to each other and are not clingy. She does what she wants, so I can do what I want.’

He explained that dedication is important: “I am different from many men of my generation because I did not play on the field.
“The number of people I’ve been intimate with isn’t very many,” he continued. “I usually marry them.”
He was previously married to Laura Johnson from 1985 to 1989 and Nicollette Sheridan from 1991 to 1992.

Hamlin is also father to 42-year-old son Dimitri with ex-girlfriend Ursula Andress.
He shared the lessons he learned from his past marriages — and he also has his degree in psychology — which he believes has benefited his marriage today.
‘Probably the first pair [of marriages] I tried to work things out because they had characteristics similar to my mother’s,’ he noted.

Hamlin graduated from Yale University in 1974 with a double bachelor’s degree in drama and psychology.
(He also graduated from the American Conservatory Theater with a Master of Fine Arts in acting in 1976.)
He referred to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, a handbook used by healthcare professionals around the world: “Having a degree in psychology allows me to go back and do research in this book, which is very helpful. is when you try to figure out who the f*** you are.’
He explained that he needed to heal from past experiences and change his habits.
Opposites attract: Nearly a year ago, Hamlin also told People, revealing, “[The secret is] are diametrically opposite.’
“I think a lot of people end up trying to work with their lovers,” he added.
“Breaking the circle is not easy,” he said. “After not marrying my mother for the third time, the challenge comes: How do you make that friendship and relationship work both romantically and platonically?”
