Gigi Hadid leads the glam as she attends the premiere of Firebrand at the Cannes Film Festival

On a night committed to red carpet glamor, it was inevitable that the leading lady would steal the show, and she did, but Alicia Vikander was in good company when the 76th Cannes Film Festival celebrated the launch of Firebrand.

The actress was in attendance on the resort town’s famous Croisette and arrived on the arm of her partner Michael Fassbender, and was joined by fellow models Irina Shayk, Gigi Hadid and Naomi Campbell ahead of the film’s first official screening.

But as her presence threatened to outshine the star, Alicia stole the spotlight in a flowing, sequin-embellished gown as she greeted onlookers on the French Riviera.

Elsewhere, Irina dominated the red carpet courtesy of a revealing bandage strappy top that drew attention to her famously slender physique as she greeted photographers Sunday night.

The model added to her look with a full, low-rise skirt, while a statement necklace, sparkling in the spotlights, served as an extravagant focal point.

Making sure to claim her share of the spotlight, Gigi Hadid, 28, opted for an elegant fishtail gown with a distinctive silhouette as she greeted photographers on Sunday night.

An off-the-shoulder detail drew attention to her slender physique, while fully exposing the sparkling diamond necklace that served as her most significant accessory.

Directed by Karim Aïnouz, Firebrand received its first official screening as it competed for the prestigious Palme d’Or at this year’s ceremony.

With a screenplay by Jessica and Henrietta Ashworth, Firebrand is based on the 2013 novel Queen’s Gambit by Elizabeth Fremantle.

It focuses on the story of Catherine Parr, the sixth and last wife of Henry VIII, King of England from April 22, 1509 until his death in 1547.

The project is Karim Aïnouz’s first directorial work in English.

Firebrand was announced during the 2021 American Film Market, with Michelle Williams first starring opposite Jude in the lead roles.

However, Alicia later replaced Michelle as Catherine Parr in March 2022, while Jude plays Henry VIII.

In May of the same year, Sam Riley was announced as Thomas Seymour, Eddie Marsan as Edward Seymour, Simon Russell Beale as Stephen Gardiner, and Erin Doherty as Anne Askew.

Shooting for the film began in April last year with production taking place at Hadden Hall in Bakewell, Derbyshire until June.

Telling the Story: A screenplay by Jessica and Henrietta Ashworth, Firebrand is based on Elizabeth Fremantle’s 2013 novel Queen’s Gambit, and the story centers on Henry VIII’s sixth and final wife, Catherine Parr, played by Alice.
