Gemma Atkinson slams trolls who branded her ‘tubby’ ahead of the birth of her second child

She is preparing to welcome her second child, a son, with Strictly’s Gorka Marquez.

And Gemma Atkinson has slammed online trolls who branded her “tubby” and said she “let herself go” during pregnancy.

I go on to say: “Ultimately, whether you wear a bigger bump or a smaller bump, you’re going to get it.” [negative comments] because there will always be someone who isn’t happy with the way you look. I’m surprised they care so much about someone else’s body.”

Gemma and the Strictly Come Dancing pro, 32, both took to Instagram in January to announce they are expecting a baby boy, due later this year.

She shared a series of stunning black and white photos showing off her blossoming baby bump while confirming her jovial news.

In an instant she was joined by Gorka, who put on a huge smile, while another picture showed her daughter Mia lying sweetly on her stomach.

In a caption, Gemma said their daughter Mia, three, is “thrilled” at the news and joked that their son will be named “Barbie” if it’s up to their daughter.

She wrote, “Impossible to hide my belly any longer. I’m officially ‘popped’. Our son will be joining our family later this year.

“We feel so incredibly blessed and grateful to be on this journey again. Mia is delighted!

“Although we may have to negotiate some names, because so far she’s firmly convinced he’s going to be called Barbie.”

Appearing on Steph’s Packed Lunch last month, Gemma said her second pregnancy was more difficult than her first because she had no symptoms for the first time.

She said, “With Mia, I had no symptoms…within two to three weeks, my breasts started to hurt, I felt nauseous. I said to Gorka, I have to take a test…”

When asked if they chose a name, she added, “I’d like to add a Spanish element to it because they’re half Hispanic.” But I said to Gorka, we have to be careful because they will have an accent like me.

“They grow up in Manchester, we can’t be like ‘okay Pedro’… It has to be something that sounds good in Mancunian.”

Gemma and Gorka got engaged in February 2021, four years after meeting on Strictly Come Dancing. They welcomed their first child Mia on July 4, 2019.
