Several people left Dylan Moran’s comedy show in New Zealand over the weekend after the famous Irish comedian appeared on stage “drunk”.
Moran, 51, kicked off his tour at the Isaac Theater Royal in Christchurch on Saturday.
Audience member Rebecca Mackle told Stuff.co.nz that Dylan was “incoherent” during the stand-up routine.
‘It was really disappointing. She was babbling and incoherent, and kept losing her train of thought. He would start a joke and lose his spot,” she said.
He seemed disconnected from his body. He dropped his microphone and tossed his jacket across the stage.

She said that Dylan had told the crowd that he suffered a “relapse”.
“He told us that he had relapsed with his drink. After that, it wasn’t fun anymore. No one was laughing, just sad. He was drunk as a skunk,’ she said.
‘A lot of comedians are a bit messy. But he hadn’t just had a few drinks, he was in a cart.
Rebecca said that she and other members of the audience left early.

Dylan, known for smoking and drinking onstage while performing his comedy routines, talked about giving up both on The Project in 2019.
‘It became a job. Honestly, that’s what it was. It was like marking the clock. Here we go (mimes opening a drink) I got bored, you know,” she said.

Dylan is best known for his stand-up work and for appearing on the British sitcom Black Books.
