Daniel Craig has dished up his savage advice for the next James Bond after hanging up his 007 boots.

The actor, 54, retired from his role as a secret agent after the blockbuster No Time To Die and speculation abounded as to who is next in line – with Aaron Taylor Johnson and Henry Cavill leading the bookmakers’ favourites.

Daniel was asked what words of wisdom he has for his successor in an interview with Ronan Keating and Harriet Scott on Magic radio.

The 007 Agent actor was promoting his latest movie Knives Out starring Kate Hudson when Ronan asked, “I’m not going to ask you the obvious, the elephant in the room.”

But I’m not going to ask you that question. What I’m going to ask you is…’, before Kate interrupted, ‘What’s the elephant in the room?’

To which Ronan replied, “Who is the next James Bond,” to which Daniel joked, “Like I’d know.”

Stumped for words, Daniel said, “Oh, I don’t know. God…’, before adding: ‘Don’t be s**t!’.

The witty response from the Casino Royale heartthrob sparked laughter in the studio and Ronan exclaimed, “Yeah, my favorite quote.”

According to Puck News, Aaron sat down with producer Barbara Broccoli and sources said the meeting went “really well” after he reportedly filmed a secret audition late last year.

MailOnline reached out to representatives for both Aaron and Barbara for comment.

In December, it was reported that Aaron had shot scenes as a secret agent, filming the memorable “gun barrel teaser footage” seen in the films over the years.

A source told The sun at the time, “Aaron has impressed bosses so much that he filmed one of the franchise’s famous gun barrel teaser scenes, something all the actors do. That step brings him one step closer to signing a deal.”

They added, “Bosses at the brand were really impressed with his unique blend of acting intensity and his impressive back catalog of action films.”

Aaron, who is married to Fifty Shades Of Gray director Sam Taylor-Johnson, 55, starred in the Kick-Ass movies, Avengers: Age of Ultron and Godzilla.

It follows that Idris Elba walked away from “years of talks” with film executives to become the next Bond, paving the way for a new 007.

Bookmakers William Hill then put Henry Cavill ahead at 5/2, Regé Jean-Page at odds of 4/1, followed by Tom Hardy and James Norton both at 6/1 and Chiwetel Ejiofor at 7/1.

Henry, 39, recently revealed he would be leaving The Witcher, while Australian actor Liam Hemsworth would take on the role of Geralt of Rivia.

Craig starred in five of the Bond movies, from Casino Royale to No Time to Die.
