Christian Wilkins reveals his worst red carpet moment and says it haunts him to this day: ‘It was horrible, but I thought I was popping’
Sydney socialite Christian Wilkins is known for his striking androgynous style.
But the 27-year-old didn’t always have a fashion sense, admitting on Monday that he once made a “terrible” wardrobe mistake a decade ago.
The actor and model told I have news for you podcast he still cringes at his red carpet debut at the 2013 ARIA Awards.

When asked if there was an outfit he particularly regretted, Christian said his first arias, which he attended with his father Richard Wilkins, were particularly bad.
He had just returned from Schoolies, he said, and was wearing a lime green suit with pink hair and feathers, brown shoes and a blue belt.
‘[It was] atrocious. But I thought I was popping,” he said of his outfit,” he said.
Christian admitted that he often dressed for events at the time, thus being the “sole culprit” for his red carpet failure.

‘I style myself with everything I do; I love fashion. Part of me kind of hopes that I look back at the things I’m wearing now and I’m like… “Oh, my God, that’s awful,” he said.
Christian has certainly come a long way since 2013 and is now known for his sense of style, which often includes wearing dresses and skirts.
He turned heads last Thursday when he stepped out in a striking ensemble at Piper-Heidsieck’s annual cocktail party.
Christian stole the show at Rod Laver Arena Terrace in a $3,500 KOURH minidress, which showed off his incredibly toned legs.

Held together by thin, criss-cross straps, the dress was covered in glittering crystals and beads.
His outfit was completed with sparkling silver eye shadow as he let his heavy mass of soft golden curls fall over one shoulder.
A pair of shiny black cowboy boots completed the look as he held a red glass that appeared to be the evening’s party gift.
