Chelsea have reached an agreement with Benfica for midfielder Enzo Fernández.
The deal has been agreed and both clubs are now vying to clinch the £105m deal before the deadline.
Fernandez is expected to travel to London shortly after earlier reports that Chelsea’s private jet was in Portugal to complete the deal.
He has been hounded by the Blues for some time as they look to strengthen themselves in midfield following the absence of N’Golo Kante through injury and the recent sale of Jorginho to Arsenal.
Assuming the move can be completed before midnight, it will be for a British record transfer fee, as Chelsea continue to spend big under Todd Boehly.
