Brendan Fevola says his rough-and-tumble off-the-foot antics laid the groundwork for his current success as a radio star.
The Fox FM breakfast presenter and former AFL great describes most media personalities as “fair skins who have lived a good life” and calls himself “as**t bag” – saying it’s something his listeners can relate to identify.
Brendan, who was sacked by the Brisbane Lions in 2011, made the comments during an interview last month on the Come along for the ride podcast.
“I think the beauty of what I’ve done in the past has really helped me in radio,” he said.
The hulking former Carlton great has battled alcohol and gambling problems and has regularly made headlines for his outrageous antics.

Fevola, who made 204 appearances for the Carlton Blues and Brisbane Lions before retiring for good 13 years ago, has a history of addiction.
He infamously sold his Coleman Medal to feed his out-of-control gambling addiction.
The likable star said he lost a job and got kicked out of the AFL and did “certain things I shouldn’t have done…people can identify with that, they know I’m real.”
The Dancing with the Stars veteran also admitted that he makes the most of his bad larrikin and “idiot” image.
But he says, “all the times in my past I stuffed my mouth or did bad things, geez, that’s great for radio,” he said.
