Police have launched a murder investigation after a 17-year-old boy was stabbed to death after a party in Leeds.

Police received reports at 2:48 am this morning of a disturbance at a house in Salisbury Grove, Armley, where a celebration involving a large number of people.

Another call came in from the ambulance service responding to a man allegedly stabbed at the address.

Officers attended and removed people from the area, while the 17-year-old man from Leeds was taken to hospital and pronounced dead soon after.

Homicide detectives and West Yorkshire Police’s Major Inquiry Team are treating his death as a homicide, they said.

The Salisbury Grove address is undergoing forensic and specialist investigation.

Senior Detective Detective Chief Inspector Alan Weekes said: ‘The loss of a young life in such sudden and violent circumstances is an absolute tragedy, and we take this incident very seriously and are doing everything we can to identify those responsible.

“We continue to support this young man’s family through what is clearly an incredibly difficult time for them, and we are committed to providing them with the answers they need as we continue our investigation.

“Our investigation is still in its early stages and we are conducting extensive investigations to understand the full circumstances of this incident.

“We are aware that a large number of people were present at a party at the address when the victim was attacked, and we would like to speak to everyone who was there and witnessed this incident.”

He added: “We would also like to hear from anyone in the area around the time of the incident who has relevant CCTV, telephone or dash cam footage that could aid the investigation.

“We fully appreciate that this incident will cause understandable concern in the local community, and we are in touch with our colleagues in the Leeds District who are working to reassure people.

“Officers from the local neighborhood police team will be more present in the area and will keep their local community representatives updated as our investigation progresses.”
