Bobby Brazier has opened up about his late mother Jade Goody and his views on the “fake baby” debate.
Jade tragically passed away in 2009 at the age of 27 after a battle with cervical cancer, and her death has been credited with a significant increase in the number of women attending their cervical screenings.
Bobby, 19, was only five years old at the time and revealed that he bases his memory of his mother on what others tell him about her.
Speak against The times of what he remembered about Jade, he said, “Not very much. Maybe memories of memories. I always hear about her and what she meant to people. I think I know my mother through other people’s memories of my mother.’
Jade famously has a tumultuous relationship with fame, having been vilified in 2007 for her shocking racist remarks about Indian actress Shilpa Shetty in Celebrity Big Brother.

Bobby said, “I never really thought about her experience of fame. I think it’s foolish to assume that someone’s experience of fame is glamorous, or that it will make you whole or happy. It might make some things better, but in doing so it makes other things worse.’
Bobby is now a model and actor, and last year he recently played the role of Freddie Slater in EastEnders.
He gave his thoughts on the current “fake baby” debate, saying, “Simply put, what good is an opportunity if you can’t make it happen? I really believe in my abilities. So thank you mom and dad for the opportunities that come my way. But I can thank myself for believing in myself, and my father for the faith he gave me.’
Bobby also spoke of his religious beliefs, saying he believed his mother was still around, adding, “Maybe as a guide, maybe an angel, maybe a teacher, maybe a protector.”
He said, “Like any boy, you want to think your mother would be proud of you.

Family: Bobby, who lives with his father Jeff Brazier, 43, brother Freddie, 18, and stepmother Kate, previously told The Sun how he believes Jade would ‘love’ that he would ‘do my best to make something of my life to make’ after carving out a modeling career (pictured with Jeff and Freddie)
“I hope she looks down at me and smiles, probably laughs, thinking, ‘Look at Bobby lying in a field in his designer gear.’
Jade sent shock waves around the world in 2008 when she was told live on Indian Big Brother, Bigg Boss that she was suffering from cervical cancer, before discovering she was terminal the following year.
She then died in March, a month after marrying Jack Tweed.
Bobby’s father Jeff has become an advocate for mental health and bereavement survival for not only his two boys, but even released the book The Grief Survival Guide: How to Navigate Loss and All that Comes With It in 2017.
