Kyle Sandilands and fellow Australian Idol judge Harry Connick Jr. continued their high-profile beef on Sunday’s episode of the singing competition.

The pair exchanged barbs as they clashed over contestants when it was revealed that the top six will all be subject to a public vote ahead of the finale episode.

While radio star Kyle insisted that the singers choose songs that viewers will love, Harry encouraged them to challenge themselves and take risks.

Kyle criticized singers for deciding at the end of the game, “Oh, let’s do something else,” saying it “freaked out” him.

Harry replied that Kyle “respectfully” didn’t understand what he was talking about.

‘This is what I understand. You show up in a Ferrari, not a Datsun with some magnet wheels on it,” Kyle interrupted, before warning the singers not to try to “impress” Harry, but instead think of the audience.

“This is a place where you sing to win. You win the record deal, then you go and do light-hearted fairytale partying,” he insisted.

Kyle recently lifted the lid on his ‘feud’ with the American crooner on the reality show.

Speaking to Daily Mail Australia, 51-year-old Sandilands stressed that the rivalry between the two was real.

“It’s not bulls**t. There’s actually no drama. It’s like, you know when someone just doesn’t like you, can you tell?’ he explained.

“Maybe it’s because he doesn’t run around praising me, which I don’t expect him to do, like it’s with a wink, but he’s on one side and I’m on the other.”

Sandilands insisted he doesn’t “hate” the singer, but suggested they aren’t close because they “don’t really get to spend a lot of time together.”

‘It’s flat. I’m super busy. It’s not a rivalry or a drama… It’s just not as close as Meghan (Trainor) and I.”

Sandilands and Connick Jr. are joined on the Australian Idol judging panel by local pop sensation Amy Shark and American hitmaker Meghan Trainor.

Sandilands previously revealed that he and Connick Jr. had a major ‘blow up’ over the phone and that the pair are no longer talking to each other.

In conversation with stable mates of KIIS FM Will and WoodySandilands said he was starting to feel like Connick Jr. never liked him, so things were ‘prickly’ between them from the start.

The rivalry came to a head when Sandilands Connick Jr.

“I just thought ‘what a flop’ and hung up. That was it. Friendship over,” Sandilands said.

The pair no longer speak off-set and it’s unclear if the judges’ row will affect any of their appearances on the show going forward.
