Foaming with rage: Angry Nespresso owners furious as coffee pod orders are delayed for weeks due to ‘teething problems’ after the company relocates its UK warehouse
- Customers who paid £700 for coffee machines will see a three-week delay
- Coffee giant now has thousands of one-star reviews on review website Trustpilot
The latest Nespresso TV commercial features George Clooney struggling for the precious last coffee capsule.
And now it seems similar scenes — albeit minus the Hollywood heartthrob — are playing out across the country.
Furious owners of £700 Nespresso machines that have run out of caffeine say they have been left with a dwindling supply of pods after online orders fail to arrive.
And the delays of up to three weeks, which the company blames on ‘teething problems’ following a shake-up in its UK warehouse operation, have certainly left a rather bitter taste.
The coffee giant received a ludicrous one-star rating from more than 1,000 people on review website Trustpilot, with angry customer Eleanor Robinson describing it as a “mess”.

The 43-year-old from Oxted, Surrey, said: ‘You don’t expect to pay hundreds of pounds for a coffee machine and then spend more money on capsules and then not deliver them. They just went AWOL – we’ve had no communication.”
Another customer wrote: ‘Terrible company. Terrible attitudes. Late delivery, or not at all.’
The brand, which has 33 outlets in the UK, is sold in 84 countries and consumes 14 billion capsules each year.
Capsules compatible with Nespresso machines are sold in supermarkets, but the Vertuo and Original pods promoted by Clooney can only be purchased online or in Nespresso boutiques.
The company, which reportedly paid the actor £31 million, recently closed branches in Norwich and Oxford. And Nestle, maker of Nespresso pods, has said it would raise prices this year.
A Nespresso spokesperson apologized for the delays, adding: “Nespresso has recently relocated its warehouse in the UK and unfortunately a number of systemic illnesses have impacted delivery times.”
