Alec Baldwin has come under fire for his first Instagram post since news he will be charged with two counts of involuntary manslaughter.
Just days after prosecutors revealed plans to hold him responsible for the accidental murder of Halyna Hutchins in October 2021, the 64-year-old actor left followers baffled by his latest Instagram caption.
Beneath a sweet photo of his son holding his mother’s shoulders as they sat on their living room floor, the Golden Globe winner sent trolls into a frenzy when he suggested that his little boy “the old, let me give you a back rub” pulling was mother Hilaria Baldwin.
The public post came just hours after Boston-born Hilaria was ridiculed for using an “offensive” Spanish accent while asking photographers to leave her children alone in the wake of Alec’s indictment.

Strange: Just days after prosecutors revealed plans to hold him responsible for the fatal on-set shooting of Rust’s cameraman in October 2021, the actor, 64, left followers baffled by his latest Instagram caption
“Imagine being charged with involuntary manslaughter and the first post you make after the announcement contains a photo of your attention-seeking wife, posed with your young son, and captioned it with a sexually suggestive innuendo,” asked one critic in the comment section.
Another wrote, “Does anyone else find this creepy with the caption? pic is sweet. Caption makes it weird.”
A third commenter wrote, “Dude, you should consult your team before posting, this won’t help your cause.”
One of Baldwin’s fans explained to the 30-year-old rock star that the “back rubbing trick is a joke between adults and not between mother and son.”
Others begged the father-of-eight to stop being “problematic” and stop posting altogether.

‘Sexualizing children is always so weird, but your own child? Yuck,” another user commented.

Last week, sources claimed that Alec is “trying to stay strong” for his kids after he was charged with involuntary manslaughter following the death of Halyna Hutchins.
Fighting to clear his name: As for his legal troubles, Alec has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing in relation to Hutchins’ death and insisted assistant director Dave Halls said he was handed a ‘cold’ gun – meaning that it was unloaded and safe (seen in 2019)
The cinematographer was killed when a prop gun went off during rehearsals on the set of the upcoming western movie in October 2021 and now the 654-year-old actor – who is married to Hilaria Baldwin and Carmen Gabriela, nine, Rafael Thomas, seven, Leonardo Ángel Charles, six, Romeo Alejandro David, four, Eduardo Pao Lucas, two, and daughters Ilaria Catalina Irena, with her for three months – but he is said to be ‘focused’ on his children and ‘lean’ on his wife when they come to deal with the charge.
An insider told People, “They were prepared for any outcome, but nothing can really prepare you for this. They really lean on each other and try to keep their focus on the kids. Hilaria has been Alec’s rock throughout it all, and to see him so distraught is heartbreaking for her. She’s doing what she can to support him and they’re doing their best to stay strong for the kids.”
The film’s lead armor, Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, faces the same charge and both face up to five years in prison if found guilty.
Santa Fe District Attorney Mary Carmack-Altwies said charges will be filed by the end of the month.
She added in a statement, “Actor and producer Alec Baldwin and gunsmith Hannah Gutierrez-Reed will each be charged with two counts of involuntary manslaughter.
“After a thorough review of the evidence… I have determined that there is sufficient evidence.
“Under my care, no one is above the law and everyone deserves justice.”
Deputy Director Dave Halls has agreed on a plea to the charge of negligent use of a deadly weapon. He will receive six months’ probation and a suspended prison sentence.
Alec has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing, saying Dave said it was a ‘cold’ gun – meaning it was unloaded and safe – when he handed him the gun.
Hannah was not present when the incident took place, but the actor rather suggested she bore some responsibility as her job was to prepare and check the props.
The ’30 Rock’ star previously insisted he didn’t pull the trigger when Halyna was shot, but the FBI tested the gun and later released a report that concluded it wouldn’t have fired if someone hadn’t pulled the trigger .
Halyna’s death was previously ruled an accident, but her family filed a lawsuit against Alec and others involved in the production.
The lawsuit was settled last October and it was agreed that filming on ‘Rust’ would resume, with the cinematographer’s widower, Matthew Hutchins, on board as executive producer.
Matthew previously said he has “no interest” in assigning blame for his wife’s tragic death and wants to pay tribute to Halyna’s “final work.”
In a statement, he said: “We have settled, subject to court approval, our wrongful death lawsuit against the producers of ‘Rust’, including Alec Baldwin and Rust Movie Productions, LLC. As part of that settlement, our case will be dismissed.
Filming on ‘Rust’, which I will now be executive producing, will resume in January 2023 with all original leads.
“I have no interest in accusations or attribution of blame (to the producers or Mr. Baldwin).
“We all believe that Halyna’s death was a terrible accident. I’m grateful that the producers and the entertainment community have come together to pay tribute to Halyna’s latest work.”
Alec also sued four crew members – Hannah, Dave, Sarah Zachry and Seth Kenney – alleging they failed to secure the film’s set.
